Remember my Audi? My beloved steed which I swore I’d keep forever? The one that !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ? The one that we then fixed, that has been up for sale since July? Looks it’s not going anywhere.

My dad realized that we can only sell it for about $3500, or he can put almost that much into it to get it absolutely perfect and then drive it for a while. He’s gone with option two.

Of course, we have no need for three cars while I’m away at college. So it looks like it’s bye-bye BMW. He probably would’ve started looking to replace the X3 soon anyway, so he’s probably going to sell it now, drive the Audi until the spring, and then get something new so I can have my car back.

This is most excellent news. Few moments in my life have been as joyful as when my own father has come to such automotive conclusions. The main reason he doesn’t push harder for me to dump the S-Class is the amount of money and sweat equity that’s in it already. And I’ll bet I will be able to fill his head with such fears of our 215,000 mile TrailBlazer breaking down that we will end up keeping the new-old Vanden Plas when the S-Type R gets here at the end of the month.

But also be forwarned, if your dad has never had a flagship before as a daily, he might not give it back. My father was turned by my Park Avenue Ultra and went from VW Beetle to XJ8 in one shot.

My father had a 1968 Mercury Cougar 302 and a 1974 Camaro Z28 when he was in the air force and college. He then had 25 years of shitty econo-boxes and uninspired japanese sports cars. My bringing a lounge lizzard lugzurry sedan into the house when I turned 16 kinda put the whole garage on it’s head. It may not have been exactly what my dad wanted, but it kinda shocked him back into that V8-in-a-sedan state of mind.

Ah well, if it turns your father’s opinion like my Buick and Lincoln did to my father and he wants something similar for himself, may I suggest informing him that a good W12 D3 A8 is only about $25,000?

He has also owned five Audis and has a best friend who owned a Phaeton. What I’m saying is he’s too smart for that.
